As probably all cats, my cats love sitting on things. Or sometimes in things (bags, boxes, freezers), but mostly on. And sometimes on books, which occasionally makes for comical sights (read the titles!).

Funny! And what gorgeous eyes your cat has!

Lying on something seems to imply ownership, so they are staking a claim whenever they lie on something.

Getting in something (like a box, bag) seems more like a 'nesting' urge.... ;)

It wasn't the position of your books I was referring to, but how the shelves are on the wall...I can see how it would help keep the books from falling off without bookends. :)

16dud5ers
okt 1, 2012, 10:28 am

It was not so scientific - just that the shelves were too long to fit end to end and I should have shortened them. I have done so except for one shelf that coincides with a light switch. I've got used to it. Caddy used to hide behind the books then take a short cut through the books by pushing a few of them out onto the floor. If I was sitting beneath it could be painful. Here I caught her red-handed.

It also provides great behind-the-books climbing joy for the cats, but the bookshelves predate the cats.

1964. It was a different world. Did I really wear school uniform at home to do my homework? Perhaps I couldn't wait to get it over with as quickly as possible. But behind me is my stamp collection - waiting for me afterwards. Tommy's dates were 1964-1975. He was all black, the smallest of a litter of sturdy little grey tabbies, and the noisiest. How annoyingly odd. Maybe you are giving the wrong flavor? Gracie refuses to eat any of the grilled flavors. Puss and Boots and Willow are happy with anything.

128Mr.Durick
apr 13, 2015, 8:24 pm

I buy it by the case from Costco, and it is every flavor in that case. He used to like it; hearing the little can crack open he would jump around to get close to it. He has also pretty much given up on Feline Greenies which used to be a reward. He started coming here, probably introduced by his mom and later with his older brothers, for canned Friskies; now only occasionally will he dig in although he will bury it in newspaper.

So I give him a non-nutritional treat which he is avid for if he is here in the morning or comes when called, and I give him full food value Temptations treats when I am feeling good about giving him stuff. He gets at least a taste of almost anything I eat if he's around, but he's taken up disdaining those too.

He is healthy and active. I suspect he gets food from someone else in the neighborhood. I guess it is annoying because I want to be in control and because I want to be appreciated.
