Has anyone benefited from all the movies being filmed here in NC? Homeland, Revolution, Hunger Games and others I seem to find out about after they have come and gone! I guess you have to be a rabid fan or connected to the money stream to keep up with the events.

The movie industry has been good to Wilmington, NC.

I'd only heard about The Hunger Games, and then just because I lived 30 minutes from Shelby at the time. For a while, there was some cool stuff going on - a tour of filming locations, a "Hunger Games" competition at my local high school that combined reading, athletics, and going to see the movie. I'm not sure that there were any lasting benefits, though, other than perhaps a lot of typical non-readers finding a series of books they enjoyed.
Edit: I'd also heard of Main Street (2010), filmed in Durham, from Wikipedia.
Edit again: A lot of my friends were excited about and showed up for the casting calls for extras in The Hunger Games, but I didn't hear of anyone from my area who actually made it into the movie.

Part of "Patch Adams" was filmed on the UNC-Chapel Hill campus. A lot of locals, employees and students were extras in the movie, but I was not one of them. Still, it was fun to recognize some of the buildings. And such a great movie too!

I remember people pointing out where parts of the movie Three in the Attic were filmed in Chapel Hill while walking around the campus. It made quite the buzz in high school.
