I have a copy of Le Grand Meaulnes by Alain Fournier. It is an English edition of the French text with an introduction and notes by Robert Gibson (Professor of French, University of Kent at Canterbury when this edition was published in 1968.)
Armed with a good French English dictionary I should be able to manage this in its centenary year of publication.

The Economist has a whole section on Le Grand Meaulnes in their Christmas special:

What a coincidence that I come to explore this group and find this thread. My mom just gave me this book as a gift while saying it is THE book that you have to read if you're French 'cause everyone else has already it. As my dad then walked into the room I asked him if he had read it and he just guffawed and gave me that look of "of course I have". I'll try to pull it off the TBR shelf a little earlier than I had planned. (Or rather, I had no plan and maybe now I have a plan.)
baswood, have you started it yet?

I just now finished the 44-page introduction by Sophie Basch to my edition of Le Grand Meaulnes.
