Dear fellow readers,

We are a group of students researching the subject of "the importance of speed reading on E-books".
We would appreciate if you would be able to fill out our survey (link below).
It will only take 2 minutes of your time :)

Thank you very much!

I see this post (and an identical post at two other ebook-related groups) has already gotten two flags. I went to the site specified and followed through on the survey (though without giving it a whole lot of thought) just to see what the end result was. Nowhere did they ask me for an email address or otherwise engage in any marketing, though they did indicate that they have an app for speeding up ebook reading and asked what I would be willing to pay for it -- a question that could arguable be part of an academic survey for statistical purposes.

Their posts may be a questionable, but....

(1) They genuinely aren't marketing anything, as far as I can see, and

(2) They are only (again, as far as I can see) posting to LT's specific ebook-related sites.

Based on what I've seen, I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt and "counter-flag" on their behalf. I know this is a close call, but they genuinely don't appear to be selling anything, and I don't want to discourage anyone who may genuinely be a student and asking for help for a class assignment. Giving them benefit of the doubt, I don't think I can find anything in LT's "terms of use" that prohibit this; and I'm someone who is actually pretty quick to "flag" anything that looks like spam.

I'd note, though, that although my own answers to the questions were reasonably accurate, I didn't spend a lot of attention on answering them (it genuinely only took me a couple of minutes) and I don't know how valid any of these survey results may be. Anyway, if you genuinely are students, good luck to you on your project; but I'm not sure how statistically valid the results are going to be.

Creating an account merely to spam several groups with a do this for us!! plea is spam in my book, even if it isn't "technically" commercial spam. I highly doubt this user will ever even log back in again.

Yeah, you may be right. Maybe I'm just being a bleeding-heart with someone who seems like he may just be a well-intentioned kid. I'll certainly agree at least that it's a close call.

Frankly I just get rather fed up with all the students spamming sites all over the web trying to get people to do things for them.

I can't see that it makes one iota of difference whether or not I read faster on an e-book, and frankly, I don't care.

@PolymathicMonkey,
Sorry you feel this way. These sort of forums are the best (and honestly only) place we can recieve real answers from people who love reading.
I would like to add that the survey is for research purposes and the question about the application is hypothetical in order to give a sense of reallity to the survey.

Hi in response to the question, I guess it doesnt matter as for me, I dont mind reading faster I always take time to understand and analyze as well as visualize on what I am reading. The fact that you are buying or renting ebooks that gives you limited time to read it that is the hardest thing to do that you will read it fast but when you have your ebooks downloaded free then there is no need for you to rush-in in reading. I always read ebooks that I read it on my comfortable time because I got them for free from http://bookboon.com/ no registration needed too.
