The Great Gatsby - FS editions

I'd like to add a Folio edition of The Great Gatsby to our collection. I'm not so keen on the Charles Raymond illustrations for the 1st, 1968 FS edition and haven't been able to find any examples of Christopher Brown's illustrations for the 2nd edition in the 2005 F. Scott Fitzgerald set. (There's no illustration for it in the Folio 60.)

According to the Folio website, a new (3rd) edition of The Great Gatsby, illustrated by Sam Wolfe Connelly, is scheduled for Fall 2013:

Could any of you comment on the Christopher Brown / Fitzgerald illustrations? I'm tempted to wait for the 3rd ed. but am very curious about the set.

The 2005 editions of Fitzgerald are some of my least favourite Folio books. Seemed like a good deal at the time as the four volumes came as my renewal offer for the year. The covers are decorated with a simple repeating pattern - presumably to resemble the art deco style of the thirties - but they are dull and rather flat, certainly not up to the usual Folio standard of design. Can't even recall the illustrations which can't be a good sign!

I'd wait to see the 3rd edition before you purchase.

I might be wrong on this ( I am away from home at the moment and can't check ) but I think the 2005 edition of Gatsby included The Last Tycoon - Fitzgerald's unfinished novel.

I shall look forward to a new GG as it is one of few books I collect multiple editions in!

I think I too was disappointed in the 2005 edition. But need to revisit them and revert.

Glad I'm not the only one who does that. :-) Mine is "A Tale of Two Cities." I've lost track of how many editions I have of that one, but it's at least six or seven.

There is no limitation number anymore on the Gatsby. Not to many days ago there were below 150 left i think. Does that mean?

Even though I do not have a high opinion of the novel, I bought the blue ed for the sake of set completion and owning The Last Tycoon.

I bet it'll sell out.

It is relatively cheap and the story is an all-time favourite.Plus the illustrations are superb.Even I was thinking about buying another copy!

Yes, I really didn't need ANOTHER copy of this as I've already read it (I now own 4 including the Folio), but it was a lovely Xmas gift from my mother this year and the design really is suburb.
