to the Queen City. I am a new resident to your fair state but am excited to learn as much about it as possible.
Any required reading?

Some of my favorite NC authors are T. R. Pearson, Clyde Edgerton, and Jill McCorkle, but there are plenty more authors that call (or have called) North Carolina home. O. Henry is a native of my hometown, Greensboro. The NC Coast has lots of interesting history, so it might be also fun to read up on Blackbeard, the Graveyard of the Atlantic, etc.

If you want to read about the mountain area, I can recommend Wayne Caldwell's 'Cataloochee' and 'Requiem by Fire'. Also most anything by Ron Rash, but 'Serena' does go well with 'Cataloochee'. My favorite Ron Rash is 'The World Made Straight'.
