Not that there are very many books for sale in the Christmas Markets, but there are other bookshops for Christmas shopping in, or maybe another visit to the John Rylands Library: http://www.library.manchester.ac.uk/rylands/exhibitions/
Would anyone be interested in a Manchester meetup at some time while the markets are open: Friday 15 November - Sunday 22 December 2013?

Definitely. It would be really good to actually meet ( shock..:) ) fellow Thingers.. Any day is ok.

Markets would be good. I tried meeting my fellow library assistants at JR when on a course and got badly lost, and didn't find it.

Oh, I can't believe I missed this - I think I need to put this group on watch...
I'm actually going there this saturday, but I'm going with a friend and then meeting another friend later, so I can't accommodate yet another meet, hehe
Still open to meet fellow thingers, though :)

I have not been paying attention, or contacting people directly...
I expect to go to the markets on Saturday with my wife, but may not have a great deal of flexibility

There's no huge rush? They are open for a month or so. I'm fairly busier than usual at the moment, but a meet-up is possible.
After work one evening for a couple of hours? A Thursday might be best although I'm reasonably available.

I might well be able to make a Thursday evening, but I believe ScarletBea lives on the wrong side of the Pennines.

I call it the "right side" ;)
But don't worry about me, go ahead and arrange things amongst yourselves (I can only do weekends, yes).

How about this Thursday (12th December)? I could get into the city centre by 6pm or so.
(I enjoyed by visit with my wife yesterday - I did see one lady in a bright red gilet and a christmas pudding hat, maybe that was ScarletBea on her expedition)

Hehe definitely not me, no funny hats :) I did have a bright red scarf, though
It was so incredibly crowded!
(by the way, did you see the author signing at Waterstones Arndale?)
