tymfos aims for books @ 50 states

Hi! I've heard this challenge mentioned in other groups, and it sounds like something I'd enjoy. I like to read books set in different places, and I've been wondering how many states I've covered. This thread will give me a place to sort that all out. I read both fiction and non-fiction. My primary interest here will be where novels are set, but I'm going to keep a list of non-fiction, too. Those will be harder, because -- depending on the subject -- not all have geographic settings.

I see 2009 suggested as a starting point for what books read to count. That's the year I joined LT, so that fits me perfectly. I may, at least temporarily, have a few books listed from earlier until I have time to sort out dates that I read things.

It will take me a while to sort through things and fill in what I've read. I'll start with the memorable ones, add books as I finish, and sort through my records to refresh my memory as to what books fit where.

BTW, I read a lot of series books, so if I list a book from a series, I'll list the series it came from, too -- if I'm up to date with the series, I'll add a * by the series name.

Hi Terri! I found you! You've covered a good many of the states already. I see a few in your lists that I read for my challenge.

I've thoroughly neglected this challenge. I'm sure I've read books over the past year or so that could have filled spots here. I've spotten one right away . . .

ETA to add Well, I went through my book lists, and really, there were only two to fill in empty spots. I need to be more intentional about this challenge.

Thanks for stopping by!

I'm not doing so well on the non-fiction . . .

>16 tymfos: I naturally read a mixture of fiction and non-fiction, but I had not really been paying attention to that aspect in the challenge. I went and had a look at my 50 States Challenge thread and I did have a mixture of both. I marked the ones that are non-fiction. I don't think I am going to try reading one fiction and one non-fiction book for each state as you are. I will happy to get one book done for each state whether it's fiction or non-fiction.

Since I completed my Fifty-States challenge, I haven't been back over here much. I'm glad that others keep finding this challenge - it was SO much fun! I enjoyed mine so much, that after I saw my results after reading at least one book per state, I decided to make sure I had at least one contemporary and one historical fiction book for each, plus many non-fictions fell into place, as well. After going back and finishing up the extra reading, it was fun to pick my Favorite Read from each state and also the book I thought had the best Sense of Place for it's state. Hope you're having as much fun with it as I did!

I haven't touched this thread since 2017. Surely I've "visited" more states in my reading since then! I need to look over my reading lists sometime and see "where" I've been!

>19 tymfos: It still pops up in my starred threads! I'll be curious to see where you've visited. I completed the challenge many years ago.

Hi, Lori! I'm not sure when I'll find time to sort through my reading between 2017 and now. Life is hectic. Reasonably good, but hectic!
