'A Monster Calls' by. Patrick Ness. Definitely a book that hits you right in the heart. You will cry.
'The Way I Used to Be' by. Amber Smith. This book will probably also make you cry. It is my favorite book. Its about a girl who was raped freshman year and now she is going through her four years of high school with this secret.

The book really got me thinking of all the women who actually do stay with the men who miss treat them. I'm sure they all have the're reasons. I actually used this book as an example when I tased with someone about the subject and still do till this day.

A lot of what I read in elementary school really stuck with me. I guess just the introduction to reading at that age made a big impact. The ones that really stick out for me are:
Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH - importance of family (made me wish I had siblings LOL)
Island of the Blue Dolphins - surviving in the face of adversity
Julie of the Wolves - care of animals
A Wrinkle in Time - made me think about abstract realities
The Prydain Chronicles - Wicked fun to read :-)
