Tried to post a link to an article in the LA Times Wednesday, Aug 22, 2007 Calendar section about Ross Macdonald and the fact that all the Lew Archer novels, plus short stories will be back in print.
Lew Archer
Ahh, that seems to work!

Wow. Marvelous. I love Ross MacDonald. The Ivory Grin and the short-story collection both sound like good additions to my lot. It's good to think of all the people who will buy him now.... instead of scrounging for used copies, like most of us! Or letting him pass by, unknown.
Edited just to say: etrainer, thanks for posting it!

This is great! Ten years ago, when I started reading crime fiction, almost none of it was in print, and now almost everything is-- Charles Willeford, Cornell Woolrich, and now Ross MacDonald.
Let's hope someone gets the memo and puts all of the Richard Starks back in print.
Thanks a lot for posting this!

I lost most of my books in a fire 4 years ago. When I decided to reload the first author I started collecting was Ross MacDonald. As one reviewer recently said," MacDonald didn't really write about crime, per se, what he really wrote about was SIN..."!!! Well, I concur...

I recently stumbled upon a dozen or so Lew Archer novels at a used book stall in Amsterdam. I pounced, and have begun to devour. Tremendous writing, and a fascinating look at how California became California.

I have found the Stephen Greenleaf "Tanner" series to be very reminiscent of MacDonald's writing. Do any of you agree? Stephen Greenleaf

I systematically worked my way through all the Lew Archer books over several years. There was a particular kind of sadness when I read the last one knowing that there would be no more. They are my favorite detective series.
