The HelpThing page states:
"What isn't a spam work?

Any work that actually exists as a book in the real world. The member who added the book may be committing spam by adding the work, or by other data attached to it (eg., reviews), but the work itself is not spam. Consider what would happen if a non-offending user were to add the same work."

Just because something has a title that makes it look like spam doesn't mean that it isn't an actual book.

LOSE WEIGHT PERMANENTLY Effective Strategies on How to Lose Weight Permanently
recently closed having been voted as spam with my vote being the only one against

HOW TO EAT LESS: Easy To Follow Tips For Eating Only What Your Body Needs
Lose Weight Permanently: Now Lose Weight Quickly and Permanently (How To Eat Less Food)
Why We Get Fat: Low Carb: Ketogenic Diet Guide-For Fast Weight Loss And Healthy Life
are all above the threshold to pass

Hair loss Cure: Actionable steps to stop hair loss
has far more yes votes than no

Yet a quick search on amazon shows all five of these to be real and available to buy (albeit only as ebooks).

Is it just that people aren't bothering to check this? Or am I the one who is somehow in the wrong?

No, you are correct.

I must say, though, that I rarely look at the spam works voting page*. Maybe I should do so more often.

*Probably because it's not easy to find (I just tried) and I don't have it bookmarked

And here's another work that has been marked as spam, but it exists as an ebook. Computer Repair by Shawn Davis

The cover looks not-bookish, perhaps.

Because it's a Kindle edition and they don't have covers!

Sorry about that. Evidently my research didn't go far enough! And that's why I rarely propose one.

Oh, I know. Well, they sort-of do. I'm just speculating why people thought it wasn't.

>3 sqdancer: I voted undecided on that one.

The others slipped past my voting view, otherwise, they might have gotten a no or undecided as well.
