The airline is worried about being accommodating? Screw that.
There is no way to be accommodating to people who believe that they are the chosen of their "one true God" and the rest of us are filth.

>5 darrow: But shouldn't the person who's observing the restrictions be the one to move? I can't see trying to transfer responsibility for that practice to someone else.

It's too bad that religious folks won't just accept the argument that their god/beliefs aren't a real thing so the rest of society has no reason to humor them. That would make things so much easier.

>7 weener: Wouldn't it?
I just bought this book on impulse: The Atheist's Guide to Reality. I don't expect it to be very popular with an audience of true believers. Unfortunately logic doesn't work too well with either side, at least not with respect to arriving at beliefs. It's mostly used to defend beliefs that they or we arrive at emotionally. Or so I've been persuaded.

>9 TotalBookcase: Not to pounce on you, by any means, but I feel my hackles rise reflexively with any statement that begins "we all." I prefer to speak for myself. Some people do not think that beliefs that drive insane behavior warrant respect.

>11 TotalBookcase: Thank you. I appreciate that. I usually say nothing when I read "We all love x" or "We all sympathize with you" or whatever, even as I wonder how any one person can presume to know the sentiments of all. But when it comes to matters of religious belief there are just far too many profound differences to sit still for such generalities.
