Uhmm, ok. Not feeling especially in need of liberation from self, sort of a scary thought actually, kind of like losing your socks.
I was all into the "reading as escapism" thing, then I grew a critical function and it won't - let - go. Occasionally I can still just read for fun, but the author has to win my trust that she/he doesn't need my careful line-reading eye.
And now I could go on about how it's important for a writer to still know how to read like a reader once you get to the editing stage, but now I'm not sure I know what we're talking about anymore.
edit - oh, you write poetry, ohhhhhh. I had to read the prose version of Homer. We're probably double-posted between the two of us and I just don't know it.
