I just finished reading The Devil's Own Dear Son and posted my review.
For some reason, I was surprised at how much I liked it, and how much like Cabell's earlier work it was. It certainly spoke to me as a man in middle age.

Heartening indeed that Cabell's later books are as enjoyable as the earlier.
I've still got plenty of the earlier Biography works to go through, including several unread on my shelves, but I also picked up a couple of his later books: As I Remember It and There Were Two Pirates, that last from the same "It Happened In Florida" trilogy as Devil's Own Dear Son.
