Issue with Media type

I'm not sure if this is a bug, or if I screwed up somehow, but I recently added "pamphlet" to my media list as a sub-heading under "paperback", and for some reason it is showing up a slew of times on the list.

Is there a way to delete the extras?

Looking.

Did you add it many times, thinking it wasn't taking?

I've found the data, but I expected that, if this was a bug, it would have happened a bunch of times before. I count three times it might have happened, and some others that might be right or wrong. So I'm looking to find out if you did something usual, or what?

I thought I just added it once; it's been a while, but I don't recall any hitches.

I did use Power Edit to add it to a number of titles at once, so that might have something to do with it?

Can you confirm this is fixed?

No, I'm still seeing a whole raft of "pamphlet", just under "paper book" and before "paperback".

Does anyone know is there is a way to delete these yet? I thought I did it once before, but I can't remember. But I've gone and created two Board Book listings, and I want there to be only one.

So I found a potential work-around (at least it worked for me). I went and deleted the book I was adding into my account in which I had duplicated "Board Book" in the media list. And sure enough, now I am back to just having Board Book listed once, instead of three times. It's not a great solution long-term, but it does satisfy by OCD.

>8 Burkshelf: There is currently no way to delete custom media types you've already created. But I believe what Tim was working on in >4 timspalding: is a way to prevent duplicate custom media types.

For future reference, there's no need to change the bug status again/every time you post. I'm changing this one back to "reported," as "needs discussion" is a status we typically use when there's a question as to whether there's actually a bug, or how best to implement the fix.

Is there a way that staff can delete our erroneous duplicates?

Wow, secret staff powers to put something back to "Reported"? There are a lot of bugs that have been languishing for a while as "Re-opened", after someone accidentally switched them to "Needs Discussion" thinking that it was a high-priority rather than low-priority status; do those get less attention than Reported?

Yes. We print them out and do target practice on them.

Bumping, with a new report at https://www.librarything.com/topic/350676.

I noticed in the profile of the poster linked in kristilabrie's #18 that they have "Hardcover (1) showing up literally hundreds of times. This bug only applies to custom media types but that has to be related, now?

(Screenshot so people don't think I'm hallucinating or stupid if it gets fixed before they look):

I ran into this problem a couple days ago while attempting to power edit a LOT of books to include a recently added media type (DJ w/o mylar). The media type didn't show up as an option when power editing, so I added it again. Boom, now it shows up numerous times in my list of media sources. As far as I can tell, the media source of none of the selected books changed.
