All right, here we go with the next four chapters (in which they finally get to Hogwarts)!

#2 -- one of my notes was "I want to hear that joke!"

Okay, here are the rest of my notes (and, if you're reading HP for the first time, there will be spoilers for this book and the rest of the series):

Chapter 9: I never quite bought why the Death Eaters panicked at the sight of the Dark Mark. I understand the reasons stated in the text, but it still doesn't make complete sense to me. After all, these same people (apart from Kakaroff, the wimp) did come back when summoned, later in the book. I mean, if I were a former member of an evil gang, out reminiscing on the bad old days and having some fun, and someone put the gang symbol up in the sky, I would assume it was one of us that did it -- not that it was some sort of threat!

Chapter 10: Fred makes a crack about dying, in typical Fred fashion, but knowing how DH turns out, it really catches your attention! Do you think JKR was planning on killing off Fred at this point?

Chapter 11: Percy is being pompous about having to go into the ministry, saying that Mr. Crouch really relies on him, and one of the twins deadpans, "Yeah, I reckon he'll know your name soon." That always gets a chuckle from me! Also, on the train, they overhear Malfoy talking about how he wishes he could have gone to Durmstrang. In my opinion, it would have been a great thing for Malfoy -- I don't think the Durmstrang guys would have let Draco be such a bully.

Chapter 12: Moody sure knows how to make an entrance -- or, at least, Impostor Moody does. I don't know about you guys, but I always liked the fake version of Moody better than the real Moody we meet in later books. I think I'm picking up on Harry's reactions to him, but it's still interesting to note.

I agree with polly. They would have been the ones that didn't get bunged into Azkaban, so Voldy might see them as disloyal. If there was a sudden indication that he or one of his more loyal minions was back, I'd be poopin my pants if I were them.

Fake Moody rocks--esp. how he does Draco. (oops, I'm getting ahead of myself).

Okay, so the moral of the story is that this chapter makes sense to everyone but me. All right, then! :-)

Wel when you think about the death eater thing there are a few points. Yeah they are the ones that did not get sent to azkaban... but they were also using their old death eater masks and robes to perform magic and using peoples continued fear of voldy to their advantage... there for when they saw the sign they probably figured that they had been caught using all of His props from their own personal; gain and enjoyment...

Good point, that they were using Death Eater props for their own enjoyment (not sure about "gain," what were they getting out of it other than a few cheap thrills?) -- and with emotions running high, I guess I can see how any reaction (surprise/fear at seeing the Dark Mark, for instance) would be amplified.

i also wonder why draco would "show his colors " so plainly, enjoying the panic....his fathere cautioned hin several times in the series to not show animosity toward Harry. Methinks Draco disobeyed his daddy many times

Seems like something Draco would do, tho, no?

I also wonder how many death eaters were done in for disloyalty or failure. I would imagine they had seen the mark for deatheater friends who were killed as well.

It's that time again! Don't forget to read Chapters 13-16 for Monday!

So, okay, after the whole Dark Mark incident Mr. Weasley says they need to sleep and catch and early portkey in the morning so Mrs. Weasley won't worry about them. Why doesn't he just have Bill or Charlie or even Percy apparate home and tell her what's going on so she doesn't worry? Wouldn't that make more sense?

Good point, Bib. For that matter, why to wizards bother camping out. Why not just apparate the day of the event? They said some people had been there for weeks. I guess it is the spirit of the thing and if it runs long.

I actually thought about that too, I came up with this; the underage wizards can't apparate and I would expect that the camping is a lot of fun, until Death Eaters start showing up. Also, I bet some of those people had been there since the beginning, remember we just got to go to the Finals, there were lots of other games leading up to them. It's mostly the stupidity of letting Molly worry.

#15 -- The only reason I can think of is that it apparently takes energy and concentration to apparate -- perhaps Mr Weasley thought they were all too exhausted? But I can't buy that, as we've seen characters in much more stressful situations than that apparate. Or perhaps he wanted them close by in case of more mischief? But then I would say that he should have sent one of them, and told them to come back. Or perhaps he just wasn't thinking clearly. Basically, what I'm saying here is that you have a good point, Bib.

As for why they did all just apprepatate the day of the event...

It was explained in the book that they could not all show up on the day of because they could not risk muggles seeing so many of them. It would cause suspicion or something if millions of witches and wizards were seen arriving in one spot all at the same time...
