I am sure that I have done this before - but I can't remember how, and now I can't get it to work!
I have a csv file of barcodes, how do I import it into librarything? I.E. what do I label the barcode column on the import CSV?
Many thanks

Sorry for the trouble—you can't import barcodes via .csv import (https://www.librarything.com/import) at this time. Generally, our import is due for a revamp (particularly closing the import-export loop on LT), and I'm sure other members will chime in to agree.
In the meantime, I'm unsure how many barcodes you need to import/if this helps, but you can import custom call numbers, if you follow our sample .csv file on our Universal Import page above. Importing your barcodes as custom call numbers could at least get your barcodes into the system for you, and then you could work on moving them over to your "Barcode" field where you want them.
If this sounds like a good option for you, you can check out our Help page on .csv imports for more info: https://wiki.librarything.com/index.php/HelpThing:Import. I hope this helps!

Thanks - Just to be clear - these aren't my barcodes, rather the one printed on the book - does that make a difference? As I said I am sure that I managed to do this previously.

Sorry - Yes I am, have just tested and realised the number generated is an ISBN - Sorry! I didn't have internet connection so I was using Barcode to Sheets on a phone. All sorted, many thanks for the help.

Ah, gotcha! Sorry for the confusion. Yeah, you can definitely import books based on ISBNs to Universal Import. Glad you're sorted.

is this still the case? That custom barcodes cannot be imported into my catalog?
9kristilabrie
With our .csv import, that's correct. If you have MARC records you can map and import custom barcodes to LibraryThing via our MARC Import: https://www.librarything.com/more/importmarc. I hope this helps.

Thanks for reply. I've been working with MarcEdit software. I'm hoping that you can help with working with the exported MARC file from LT. It's downloaded as a *.MARC file but the marcedit software works with *.MRK and *MRC files.
when i open my LT MARC export in notepad, it's not formatted like other mrc files.
This is how one record looks in my MARC export:
