Hi Writers Readers,
I have some fiction writer industry questions that might be of interest
to others:
-- If Flash Fiction generally has a maximum of 1,000 words, what is the general word count for a short story and novella?
- Does any resource keep sales stats on anthologies that are in the fiction category?
Thanks for the probable answers.

Different publishers set the division between short story and novella differently. Some also have the intermediate category of "novelette".
It also seems to vary between genre.
You have to check with each publisher (or competition) separately, unfortunately.

Hi, there. Hope you don't mind a newbie wandering into your thread.
Here is a link from the SFWA site about word count and how to calculate this (I know we have software that does this nowadays, but it's still useful to know). There are a lot of other very useful links on their site!
