Sir Roger Bannister, the first man to run the four minute mile, died on March 3 at the age of 88. He was a medical student when he broke the record which explains some of his writing. His books include The First Four Minutes, Twin Tracks and Autonomic Failure : A Textbook of Clinical Disorders of the Autonomic Nervous System.

Michele Hanson, newspaper columnist in the Guardian, died on 2 March at the age of 75, following a stroke. Her books included Treasure: The Trials of a Teenage Terror, based on her Guardian columns about life with her daughter, anonymous in the paper and published as a book under a pseudonym, and What the Grown-Ups Were Doing.

Emma Hannigan died of cancer on 3 March at the age of 45 - she had published several novels including The Summer Guest and a memoir, Talk to the Headscarf.

Chess Grandmaster Anatoly Lein died March 1 at the age of 86. His books include Sharpen Your Tactics, The Latvian Gambit: A Grandmaster View and In the World of Tactics.

Long time sports announcer for the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Woody Durham died March 6 at the age of 76. His memoir was called Woody Durham: A Tar Heel Voice.

Designer Hubert de Givenchy died march 10 at the age of 91. He wrote the forwards to several books including Audrey Hepburn: A Life in Pictures, The Givenchy Style and Five Beautiful Women.

Crime fiction author Peter Temple has died aged 71 on 11 March. His books include the Jack Irish series starting with Bad Debts and two books featuring Joe Cashin, The Broken Shore and Truth.

Pediatrician T. Berry Brazelton died March 13 at the age of 99. His numerous books include Touchpoints Birth to 3 Touchpoints 3 to 6 and Infants and Mothers: Differences in Development.

Clive Sinclair died 5th March 2018 aged 70. He wrote several books and short story collections as well as being known for early calculators and computers for the general public. A brief obituary here:—

In addition, the maker of the Sinclair Computer Kit (among so many other things) is still alive, I'm happy to say. I note that Wikipedia hasn't yet updated the author's page, but I'm sure it'll happen soon enough.

Illustrator Robert Grossman (#2) died March 15 at age 78. He doesn't seem to have any entire books to himself, being mostly a magazine illustrator. However he also contributed to some children's books such as The Eighteenth Emergency, and did covers for political books such as Smells Like Dead Elephants. Perhaps his most famous illustration is that of Nixon as Pinocchio, with Kissinger as Jiminy Cricket perched on his nose.

Canadian comedian and comedy writer Mike MacDonald died March 17 , aged 62. He was one of the writers of the Jackie Chan movie Mr. Nice Guy.

David Delvin, a good sex guru, died March 9th 2018 age 79. He wrote The Book of Love and many other books. He also played a role in establishing the doctors (in UK) could write under their own real names. Previously this could lead to having one's license to practise revoked.

Philip Kerr, crime novelist best known for the Bernie Gunther series of 13 books, starting with March Violets, featuring a PI in Nazi Germany and postwar, died on Friday 23 March aged 62.
