If anyone who has read Dostoevsky's The Grand Inquisitor would care to comment on an essay "The Grand Trumpeter" published earlier this year, I would love the input. You can read the article at ... https://philpapers.org/rec/VILTGT or

I am not sure if you are still around to read a reply here, but I was interested enough to read your piece, so I will leave one.

I am sorry, but I don't think your analogy works. Although both the Grand Inquisitor and your Great Trumpeter espouse positions quite at variance with their actual beliefs, you are attempting to equate a crazed old man, who sacrifices himself for an ideal in which he believes, with a man who appears to believe in nothing. The evil results may be similar, but the causes are completely different.

You evidently intended this as political satire. For the satire to have bite, it needs to be more apt.

Would anyone request an Illiterate review? Are there even Illiterate Reviewers? Well, I guess there are some of those, but I've never seen a request for one. lol

That thought crossed my mind at first, too. :)

I don't agree that the causes have to be the same. I am aware of the marked differences in the two and, for me, that was part of what made it fun to write. For some (I've had some good comments :) it also made for a good read. Sorry you don't agree about the bite but sounds like we pretty much agree about the two old men.

Thanks for the comments.
