This book was written by an unassuming man in his late 80s going through what sociologists call 'life review. This book made me think about how dramatically times have changed and made me feel grateful for what I have and I check myself when I feel the urge to complain about work or food or my home. This man endured so much, war, depression, neglect etc and yet was still able to say he had 'a fortunate life'. It is truly moving without intellectual pretension!

Hi lawrose,
This book actually looks pretty interesting. For future reference, you have to use the square brackets (next to the P on your keyboard) to get touchstones to work.
Cheers!

Thanks for that philosojerk (wow I almost feel mean calling you that) I am pretty new to this sort of thing and am largely technologically incapable.
Really, although I am a massive book lover, my attention span can waver quickly but this book was so different and full of real life adventure. I was hooked and it made many a train ride go alot quicker.
