Hello, this is the Vere Harmsworth Library (Rothermere American Institute), just letting you all know that we are on LibraryThing and using it to promote our new acquisitions each month. We're also listed on the LibraryThing Local service.

In case you don't know us, we're the research library for US studies (mostly History, some Social Science, especially Politics) in the University and are open to anyone with a University/Bodleian card. If you have an interest in US studies you might want to take a look at our catalogue!

I believe one or two other Oxford libraries are starting to experiment with LibraryThing as well - maybe they could use this thread to introduce themselves too if they're here.

Greetings! Nuffield College Library is indeed experimenting with LibraryThing. We're adding our new books for this term. Please have a look!

This is a really exciting thing to see two Oxford libraries putting their collections online.

I understand there is a committee of college librarians which meets intermittently, is this correct? If so, I would humbly suggest they should be encouraged to do likewise.

Thanks very much, William! We've passed that great suggestion on.

I've noticed that the Law Bod has joined LibraryThing - I sent them an invite to this group.

On a recent open day to OU, I saw notices in several college libraries (certainly St Hilda's and Queen's) that they promote their recent acquisitions on LT. Several of the colleges only have free LT accounts, so can only list 200 titles, but that is probably enough for recent acquisitions. I was slightly less impressed, on browsing some of the college and departmental libraries, to see how long ago it is since some of these libraries added anything to their catalogues. A couple of them are even more 'dormant' than this 'Oxonians' group.

Out of interest, and to see if there is any life in the group, here are the libraries I noticed (including a couple that may not be OU libraries), and when they last added something to their catalogue. Fair play to the four libraries that have added books today.
