I figure we should probably keep track of places that are soon to close so we can do whatever we need to do to keep the records up to date.
First up, the New York Public Library announced that they're closing the Mid-Manhattan branch and moving the circulating collection to the Central Library.

The expansion probably won't be completed until 2014, but the Mid-Manhattan library will be sold next year.
(So, okay, we don't have to worry about it for a while, but better to note it now then to forget later.)

Maybe this can be dealt by transferring the venue to "others" with a note about that? I have a similar situation with Montreal's Fraser-Hickson library, which has been closed since last year for lack of funds, but hopes to reopen when they have a new local and funds.
I've got it listed with its former address (after debating whether list it as "online") and a library, but I'm considering switching it to "other" until it reopens.

I want to add a checkbox for closed venues. They won't show up in proximity searches, but will in name searches and can be favorited.

An indication on the venue page of the date when the entry was last updated might be useful.
