National Book Festival - Online - September 25-27, 2020

This year's National Book Festival will be online only, and I'll miss our annual meetup!

Registration is now available here: https://www.nationalbookfestival.com/s/nbf-2020-series-registration/home

Is anyone else planning on "attending" the festival? Any thoughts on the pivot to online?

I am feeling the loss of in-person interactions but hopeful this will lead to a more accessible festival for the future.

I'll miss the meet-up, too, and the atmosphere of the in-person event. On the plus side, the three-day event presumably will have more content. Online is better than no festival, I guess.

Rather off topic: BUCHWien, the big Austrian book festival that was to be held from 11-15 November has now been cancelled. Both Germany and Switzerland have warnings up against visiting Vienna, so their publishers are cancelling.

I'll miss it.

Completely forgot this was happening. Looked at the list, saw maybe two or three authors I wanted to see (As usual for genre authors.)

I feel like they always block the genre authors other than kids or poetry. Like we get to share a tent/room with other genres because we aren't good enough.

Interesting question - With the talk of archiving groups, do we want to let the National Book Festival group die or should we try to revive it?

This is not a National Book Week Festival group.

But it's people who have posted there, so they would have a say.

I'd be fine with combining that group into this one.
