Let's GO!
2SilverWolf28
I'll take February! I'll choose my topic soon.
3fuzzi
>2 SilverWolf28: woo! Looking forward to it.
4majkia
put me down for March. No idea on a topic yet.
ETA: Okay, thought of a topic: Indiana Jones in Space (or Fairyland)

I am very happy to see SFFKit will be here next year! I will take April with the theme of "Series".
6rabbitprincess
I've added a link to this thread to the main group page.

17fuzzi
>16 NinieB: all yours!
18NinieB
>17 fuzzi: Thanks! My topic will be "It's About the Journey". I'm planning to read a generation ship novel (not sure which one), but any kind of SFF journey will be good.
19christina_reads
How about a "Creature Feature" in October -- books with non-human characters? Could be aliens, elves, robots, dragons, vampires, or many more.
20markon
How about a short story theme in November or December? I can take this one. Reads can be from an anthology, collection by one author, or online magazine.
21Robertgreaves
I would be interested in another SFFKIT
23fuzzi
>21 Robertgreaves: May and December are still available...
24fuzzi

25christina_reads
>22 fuzzi: Yes, I volunteer as tribute! :)
26markon
>22 fuzzi: Added to my calendar!
27amy.rosenberg
Have you done Gothic Fantasy in the last couple years? If not, I can host one for December.
28fuzzi
>27 amy.rosenberg: don't recall a Gothic Fantasy challenge.
How is that different from Historical Fantasy?
How is that different from Historical Fantasy?
29amy.rosenberg
>28 fuzzi: Gothic Fantasy or Dark Fantasy doesn't have to be historical and it has a horror element. The Dark Tower series is one example, or Leah Bardugo's Ninth House.
But, if that doesn't appeal, I'd still like to host December and I can think of a different theme.

30christina_reads
>28 fuzzi: >29 amy.rosenberg: I agree with Amy that they can be different...I read a lot of historical fantasy that's sort of light and fun in tone, whereas gothic fantasy would be dark/spooky.
31fuzzi
>29 amy.rosenberg: December is yours for Gothic Fantasy!
36majkia
Working on the wiki today.

For February I'll do Sentient Things.
42fuzzi
>41 SilverWolf28: updated!
Thank you, all, we're ready to go for 2021.
I'll try to post my January thread in the next week or so, as mid-December is going to be crazy.

I love this category. I had non-human narrators as one of my categories this year (I managed books narrated by dogs, a cat, an alien) having a category with non-human characters rather than just non-human narrators would give me so many more books to choose from.

>47 fuzzi: What makes you think so fuzzi? (Trying to remember where the link came from.) I've read a couple of stories so far.
50fuzzi
>49 markon: because when I clicked on it a screen popped up with "goXprize" and it won't let me back out. I have to shut down my browser and restart it to go back to LT.
51markon
>50 fuzzi: Yuk! Sorry about that! It hasn't done that to me, but I'll take the link off.

56AHS-Wolfy
Seeing as I've decided not to participate in the category challenge again this year with a thread of my own I just want to ask if the group still feels okay with me hosting a monthly topic. I'm just not reading enough these days to make the challenge worthwhile for me personally and am not participating in the group much at all. I'd still be able to fulfill my obligations as host but if the group decides you don't want me to then there will be no ill will on my behalf if that's what you decide. There's still a few months to go before my allocated month (August) so there is enough time for a new host to take over and for everyone to adjust their reading plans accordingly.
Stem: Should AHS-Wolfy host the month of August while not being an active member of the group?

Planning on getting the November kit up this coming weekend. I think I had volunteered to suggest some short stories, but damned if I can find the list I created last winter when I was thinking of it! However, it should be easy to come up with suggestions, and I'm sure everyone will pitch in their recommendations!
76fuzzi
>75 markon: short story collections or short stories?
77markon
>76 fuzzi: Either! I'm going to include some onlnine magazines for people to explore.
79SilverWolf28
Is December's challenge up yet?
80fuzzi
>79 SilverWolf28: ::looks under piles of leaves in the yard::
Nope, not yet. Thanks for the reminder.

81Robertgreaves
In my time zone it is already the last day of November and we still don't have a December thread that I can see. The volunteer for December proposed the topic, so does anybody want to take it over or shall we fall back on something we have frequently had at this time of year - books we meant to read this year but didn't?
82susanna.fraser
>81 Robertgreaves: I like the books we meant to read but didn't yet topic for the selfish reason that I was having trouble coming up with something for the topic on the calendar. :-)
83fuzzi
>81 Robertgreaves: you are correct, no response from the person who chose December.
ANYONE WANT DECEMBER?
If not, I'll create a thread of Last Chance Challenge.
Thanks to everyone being so supportive. I decided to not host again next year as my RL has had too much going on, and I have woefully neglected my duties...
...it wasn't because I didn't enjoy it! :(

>83 fuzzi: I'll be glad to create a last chance thread if you like. It's pretty simple.
