The personal library of Toni Morrison is up for sale. It is being sold as a whole, not by piece.

I know almost nothing about the process of documenting contemporary legacy libraries. Would it be better to ask the family now, before it's sold, or wait for the new owner?

The article contains a contact for those interested in the library. That's the person to ask.

An aside, I have to say I was quite shocked at this: the Beloved author’s entire 1,200-plus collection of books . "That's all?", I said to myself!

Tim's been active on Twitter about it but I don't think has been able to make any progress in trying to allow for an inventory to be made. It's so frustrating when these things happen.

It *must* be a subset of her books in total. Anyway, it *is* frustrating. Maybe an institution will acquire all of it en bloc and we'll be able to access data eventually. Of course, that means years of waiting.

It would be a lovely library to enter. But we need the data first - wait and see
