Currently road-tripping through a post-post-apocalyptic version of what I assume to be Australia in The Sky Warden and the Sun. I had some issues with the first book in the series, but this is doing better so far.

I've just left the Great Library in the city of Brassbridge after some Sorcery of thorns. This was a very fun read.

Visiting Liavek with Spells of Binding. The stories in the previous volume of this Shared World series were a little "meh" for me, but this batch are keeping my interest.

Just came back from Bordertown in Elsewhere by Will Shetterly. It was good urban fantasy, but not spectacular -- basically De Lint Lite.

>16 rshart3: Oh, hard disagree. Elsewhere is one of my favorite books, and I find it much more emotional and memorable than any De Lint. To me, De Lint's characters feel like figures that he moves around a tale to have as many echoes to myths or legends as possible (sort of similar to Guy Gavriel Kay's character writing), but Shetterly's characters really come alive. Are you following it up with Nevernever? They're one story in two volumes.

I'm off to Texas with Mockingbird, another urban fantasy.

Spent some time in a rural England Christmas-time with my first read of The Dark is Rising in 30+ years.

Moving on now to Riverside with "The Fall of The Kings" by Ellen Kushner and Delia Sherman. (Touchstone for the book seems to be having issues.)

>18 Niko:, reading Susan Cooper again could be fun. X-nay on the movie version of that, though.

>19 Cecrow: Hard agree. That movie version was an abomination.

Finished Ten Arrows of Iron by Sam Sykes. Liked it just a hair less than the first book, Seven Blades in Black.
