I know, I know.... I'm supposed to be signing off of the 2020 and starting something for the new year.
However...
~ still reading a final novel (Hammond Innes)
I didn't feel comfortable leaving a "continue" link at the bottom of the previous thread.
Since Richard kindly added post #300, I thought it would be a convenient time to add a few final thoughts:
I flew too close and too often to the Online sun and melted.
I had very satisfying readings this year, thanks to so many book recommendations and outstandingly enticing reviews. My TBRs are over-flowing. I made lots of new friends here. I'll start a thread when I feel capable of coping with the inevitable landslide that tonight brings to the 75-er group.
I've starred several new threads but will hold off posting there for now.
My brain is full ~

Heh...and here we are, still in 2020...time to make the quantum leap, Sandy.

>2 quondame: *grin*
and >3 richardderus: Quantum leap indeed!
Thanks Susan and Richard! I may make it to 142 books-read by tonight. What a hoot!

Happy new one, Sandy! You can always wait until the chaos that is a New Year calms down and then begin a thread over there. No one ever minds if you just jump to the bottom of an ongoing thread to say hello and start from there - no need to catch up of it's too overwhelming. Whatever works for you - this group is so great with that.

I like the idea of a last chapter on the last day of 2020, Sandy :-)
7sibylline
I had wild hopes of dealing with the Wharton and the bio of Nora James, but alas. Either I have to decide to put them away or carry them over, unfinished business.
Happy last day of 2020.

Happy new one!

Lots of people start threads late or not at all and just visit.
You have to do what makes you feel good. LT is supposed to be fun, not stressful or a chore.
Having said that, I've enjoyed 'chatting' with you this year and hope to see you around in 2021.

Happy new thread, Sandy. All the best in the New Year!

More of an epilogue, really! Looking forward to seeing you in the new group, once I make my way over there.

>15 foggidawn: ha! I was going to say that.
>1 SandyAMcPherson: do as you like, it's YOUR thread.
Which Hammond Innes?

Dear all,
I wanted to acknowledge all the heart-warming visits and wishes for various greetings of the New Year ~ New Threads. These were lovely messages! Thank you. 🎉 😍

In answer to your comments (I'm glad I popped a last thread up on Dec 31st!), I confirm my confession, >1 SandyAMcPherson: both an LT meltdown and that my brain is full.
As >5 Crazymamie: said, You can always wait until the chaos that is a New Year calms down (I shall, indeed). And I see that >9 karenmarie: suggested Lots of people start threads late . That must be what Mamie is doing, because she isn't in Jim's threadbook list (yet).
In answer to >16 fuzzi:, I had hoped to finish Doomed Oasis before January 1st. I guess it will be the first completed read of 2021, though.
And as Roni asked, I have held off starting a 2021 thread. I believe this choice is perhaps like others, no? In fact I'll be waiting ~~~
Y'all know why, don't you? I'm on a program of stress reduction.
I allowed the chaos of the pandemic and American politics to frazzle my inner calm to the point I was anxious about the most irrelevant details, including some RL issues, as well. I'm taking a much-needed mental health break. I'll be not cruising threads or writing a 2021 reading odyssey until until after January 20th.
I do plan to monitor this last hurrah. I'll answer in batches. I hope you all understand my need for some space at the moment. Do drop by when you need to visit a quiet place.

>21 SandyAMcPherson: take all the time you need. LT should be a joy, not a burden. Read comfy, think puppies, picture butterflies.
We'll be here when you return.

Take care of YOU, Sandy. We will be here when you are ready. {{hugs}} and happy new year.
26lauralkeet
Just chiming in to support your plans. The beginning of the year is a bit nuts around here and things will have calmed down considerably by the time you return. Meanwhile you can focus on yourself and puppies and butterflies and whatever else. Take care and see you when you're ready.
27thornton37814
Oops. I thought I'd commented here. Hope you have a great year of reading.
28Berly
Take care of yourself -- LT is not supposed to be chore! We'll be here when you get back. : )
29quondame
You do seem to have called the stress levels correctly. Let's hope we make it to 1-20-21 in one piece!
30PaulCranswick
Take care of yourself Sandy.
Come to us in the 2021 group when you are good and ready and don't feel oblige to dance to someone else's tune. xx

Howdy do, Buckaroo. *smooch*
That is all.
That is all.

Well, hello all.
NEXT WEEK ~ a new year starts or perhaps, 4-years for the folks south of 49.
I'm still reeling from January 5th, but I guess I'm not alone in that ~ 'nuff said.
Nice to have some visitors. I have been peeking in at the threads to see what the book talk is all about.
I'm reading slowly and not all that much. Comfort stuff, I guess you could say.
>22 ronincats: Hi Roni. I will be posting on your thread, by and by...
>23 fuzzi:, >25 jessibud2: Hello fuzzi and Shelley. Nice to know I'll have you visiting again on my next thread.
>24 quondame: Susan's got me sussed, eh? But visits are low key and I'm spacing out my being on the threads to mostly once a week, usually Sundays. >29 quondame: and yes indeedy. No rampaging.
>27 thornton37814: Lori, I added your thread to my starred list. I didn't post much there last year. Intend to make amends.
>28 Berly:, Hello Kim, you were right on the money as far as LT felt to me last year (a chore). That was my own doing and had *nothing* to do with the LT members. I intend to take a more relaxed approach when I get going on 2021.
>30 PaulCranswick:, hey Paul. Thanks for your kind greetings.
>31 richardderus: Ricardo me pal. Harya? I saw that your reviews are fast and furious. Had to laugh... the 3-points (3 sentence approach reviews) are just not your style, are they? This is *not* a criticism, btw. Just enjoying the details when I see a theme I like.

>32 SandyAMcPherson: It's *exactly* my style, in that I need structure to keep myself from getting so deep that no one cares anymore! Happy that you are, like the world, recovering from the nonsensical shenanigans 45's asshole brigade wished on us earlier in the year.

It does seem like we're in a wait and see phase, doesn't it Sandy? Enjoy your comfort reads.
