April's The Cat Who Got "Shelf" ish 2021

1lowelibrary
Bewerkt: jan 2, 2021, 12:04 am

This year's theme is The Cat Who Got "Shelf" ish.

This will be my 3rd reading challenge and the year I finish the "The Cat Who" series.

I am only tracking a few categories and the CAT/KITs I participate in.

This will hopefully free me up for more discretionary reading. The last couple of years I missed out on some books I really wanted to read.

JANUARY READS

1. Happily Ever After & Everything In Between by Debbie Tung
Not as relatable to me as her other books. More fitting for newlyweds and younger couples.

2. The Ickabog by J.K. Rowling
Great story about a monster and misconceptions. Love the illustrations by actual children.

3. The Conference of Birds by Ransom Riggs
A continuation of Jacob and the peculiars adventures. I really dislike books that end on a cliffhanger.

4. Without Reservations by Ricardo Cate
Funny cartoons about Native Americans by a Native American. Some cultural, some more diverse.

5. The Royal Wulff Murders by Keith McCafferty
Debut novel. Learned more about fly fishing than I ever wanted to know. Story was good though.

6. Pop Goes The Weasel by Albert Jack
The stories behind nursery rhymes. Some interesting facts, just boringly written.

7. Crappy Shorts to Make You Crap Your Shorts by Rory Donahoe
Short stories with a scary theme or twist. Might have scared me when I was a preteen, but not now.

8. The Cat Who Sang For The Birds by Lilian Jackson Braun
Koko and Yum Yum talk to the birds. Qwill solves a murder involving a suspicious land deal.

I love the Cat Who theme.

My mum absolutely loved the Cat Who books. She had only found and read about 6 of the books so I offered to find the rest for her. In the last two years of her life I managed find the rest of the series, some were new copies, most were second hand. She read the last book only about a month before she died.

I read about the first nine books but then I gave the old series away to an old lady I met in a secondhand bookstore who was also trying to complete the series.
