Everyone likes penguins, yes? So what's the best book about penguins? I'm interested in both fiction and non-fiction.
One recommendation each... oh, okay then, one fiction and one non-fiction recommendation each because I know it's hard to choose. But I want your idea of the one best penguin book.
Thank you.

When I search my books for penguins, I get lots of books from the publisher.

>2 MarthaJeanne: Yes! This is why we need personalised penguin recs. :-)

Well, the only nonfiction book I found that is really about a penguin was The penguin lessons. It is a boarding school teacher's memoir with a penguin mixed in.
The only fiction book is Mr. Popper's Penguins but I haven't reread that since I was a child.
Guess I'm not really a penguin person.

Which is Willy? - beloved from my childhood
Every Penguin in the World - one of many nonfiction
And a tagmash that filters out most of Penguin Random, but also filters out penguins who don't live in the antarctic:

Salina Yoon has a very cute Penguin picture book series.

Joanna Stronach has a series about Streaky the penguin. Little (fairy) Penguins wander the streets of Tasmanian coastal towns. Very cute.

>9 rodneyvc: Two of my friends have little penguins living under their house, lol, so I'm especially fond of the fairy blues.
Thank you all! Please keep posting recs.
And less adorable than most of the above books, I've had three recs elsewhere for Death and the Penguin.

Our kids loved Pinguin Pondus by Ivar Myrhøj (photo picture book).
My wife and I loved Am Südpol denkt man, ist es heiß by Elke Heidenreich (Autor) and Quint Buchholz (Illustrator).

Edit: Nevermind. If I had read more carefully I would have seen that you already mentioned this in post #10.
Andrey Kurkov's The Penguin Novels?
The first book features a guy who gets a job writing obituaries for public figures who have not (yet) died and belatedly discovers that he is entangled in some rather unsavory dealings. As in many of Kurkov's novels, there are some unexpected animal characters, in this case a penguin that the protagonist adopted from a zoo that was giving away animals it could no longer afford to feed.

>15 MarthaJeanne: Ha! I'm now imagining a naked, smoking, drinking, swearing penguin trying to get into the shop.
