In case some of you missed it, the Site has opened up the admin position for numerous groups across the forums.
This group is one of them.
Anyone interested in the job?

I've considered it. The awkward conversations I've had with group members suggests I might not be the most welcome administrator, though.

LT staff megbmore says (in the New Feature: Apply to Administer thread):
"The administrator can pin posts and edit the group description and pictures. Admins will also get notifications when new members join the group. These notifications will come to the Groups You Admin area. If it is in keeping with the spirit of the group, admins may wish to send a welcome message. Admins may also assign another admin and resign their duties. The idea being that the torch, as it were, can be passed from one member to another.
As time goes on, there may be more duties and responsibilities, but that's it for now. We welcome suggestions."

>4 anglemark: You probably would be eligible for a Hugo. Odder things than LT groups have been nominated for Related Work, and as admin you'd be tapped for the ceremony. I wouldn't count on a win, though! :P

>5 melannen: I got to co-present one in 2018, I reckon that's as close to getting one that I will ever come.

>14 Karlstar: Jim, I do not think I am active enough on this group to justify having admin rights. Besides, all that power would corrupt. It could be dangerous in my hands. One Merciless Ming is enough.
Sorry, Flash!
Sorry, Flash!

>18 pgmcc: But you could be Ming the Merciless' good twin!
20Karlstar
>18 pgmcc: >19 Maddz: I guess I am stuck with the Emperor Ming designation now? I will be merciless on all spammers! That is, if I actually have any powers over them, which I don't think I do.

So apparently we have new admin powers, including the ability to hide or remove individual posts in a thread.
24anglemark
>23 Karlstar: Use them wisely, Emperor.
26Karlstar
>25 anglemark: Thanks for the offer! "And if you want to try out your newfound powers, you are welcome to first hide and then delete this post."

All Hail the exalted and munificent Emperor of Space, Time and Punctuation! ....::various and very badly done obsequious prostrations all performed while holding an ailing back::
Now is the perfect time to request an increase in the popcorn budget which has fallen to extreme lows and is the sole cause of the lack of participation in SF moving picture reviews. No popcorn = no reviews as we all know and you have the power to remedy that ;-)
