Found: romance novel set in scotland, mid 20th century

I read this book in 2009. There was woman and her sister who lived on as estate with their father. Their father used to be a famous author but had hit writers block and the family became poor. They are visited by two brothers nick and maybe ben. I am not too sure. The lead heroine is vain so she chases nick because of his good looks and later she realizes she actually loves the elder brother. Also during the end of the novel the girls lock their father up in a barn or store and ask him to complete his book. The book just ends up being a series of letters and works I remember the word cat was repeatedly used. It would be great if someone could help me find this book.
