Fox News Promotes Kayleigh McEnany to Host of Outnumbered, After Initially Balking in Wake of Capitol Attack

FOX News has now garnered the fantasyland news channel award. It is the faux news channel at which the commentators target their rants towards clueless, gullible personality cult followers in order to enrich themselves and R. Murdoch. The GOP had a civil war and the Confederacy won.

Fox Runs All-Caps Disclaimer Over Trump’s Lies About Stolen Election at CPAC
‘DENIED THE VARIOUS ALLEGATIONS’
Cheyenne Ubiera | Jul. 11, 2021

Fox News ran a disclaimer during Donald Trump’s speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference Sunday as the former president said yet again that the 2020 election had been “rigged.” The banner flashing across the screen read, “THE VOTING SYSTEM COMPANIES HAVE DENIED THE VARIOUS ALLEGATIONS MADE BY PRESIDENT TRUMP AND HIS COUNSEL REGARDING THE 2020 ELECTION.” CNN’s Oliver Darcy reported the notice ran for roughly 40 seconds during Trump’s speech. ...Earlier this year, Dominion Voting Systems and Smartmatic, both makers of voting machines, sued Fox News for billions of dollars over the baseless theory that the election was rigged. ...

Murdoch empire strikes back at ABC Four Corners documentary on Fox News’ championing of Trump (Guardian)

Rupert Murdoch’s global media operation is training its sights on the ABC after the public broadcaster aired a critical look at Fox News and its relationship with Donald Trump. News Corp has published 45 articles in just two days attacking the public broadcaster across its Australian mastheads. The pushback against the ABC came even before the two-part program reported by Washington correspondent Sarah Ferguson had aired. Fox News headquarters in New York sent a legal threat, saying the ABC had “clearly violated” its own standards by “exhibiting bias and a failure to maintain any level of impartiality in the presentation of news and information”...

On Ari Melber’s The Beat yesterday:

Jen Senko, commenting on that anniversary:
Well, my father was a really open-minded, loving person before. He loved to talk to people on the street in different languages.

And when he semi-retired, they moved to New Jersey, and he got a long commute to work. And it was a part-time job, but it was a long commute. And to entertain himself, he listened to Bob Grant. They call Bob Grant the father of conservative media.

And, very gradually, he started to change. He started getting crankier. And then, a year later, he fully retired and dove headfirst into Rush Limbaugh. And then we saw marked changes in his personality, where -- that were very distressing. He was angry, always angry, like always in a rage.

But it was like an obsession and almost like a religion. You couldn`t have any conversation without politics creeping in. And then, when e-mails started, he would send the whole family these conspiratorial e-mails that, under the umbrella, they were always bashing Democrats.

And so he would send it to us. And we`re Democrats, whatever, moderate Democrats. And we`d all beg him, dad, please don`t send us these e-mails. And then my mother started researching. And she started finally sending him, saying, this isn`t true. Here`s the proof. What`s your source?

But it got really bad in the family. And, eventually, we had to block him and not accept his e-mails. And it was really hard trying to avoid arguments. And he would pick me up at the Tom Steyer bus station in New Jersey, and he`d have Rush Limbaugh blasting, as if, like, you got to hear him.

He just was always trying to convert us. Like, it was like a religious fanatic.

Jonah Goldberg and Stephen Hayes resign from Fox News, protesting 'irresponsible' voices like Tucker Carlson (CNN)

Hayes and Goldberg announced Sunday night that they have resigned from Fox. The pair wrote in a blog post for The Dispatch, their online home, that Tucker Carlson's "Patriot Purge" propaganda film was the last straw. "Fox News still does real reporting, and there are still responsible conservatives providing valuable opinion and analysis," the men wrote. "But the voices of the responsible are being drowned out by the irresponsible," and Carlson is the case in point...

And cable subscribers, taxpayers (Pentagon) are paying for it:

Fox News wants a massive increase in its cable fees — which will be paid for by all cable subscribers
If that rate goes up to $3 per subscriber, Fox News would be earning more than $1.8 billion annually from affiliate revenue alone
Madeline Peltz & John Knefel | 04/20/23

Following Fox News’ massive defamation settlement paid out to Dominion Election Systems, the network is now pursuing an even more aggressive strategy to raise revenue by increasing the fee paid by cable and satellite providers to $3 per subscriber, according to a new report from Vanity Fair.

Fox News executives insist that sponsors have not been spooked by the Big Lie scandal, nor have the cable and satellite providers that carry the network. In the negotiations that are taking place this spring between Fox and the likes of Comcast, Fox wants to break past the three-buck mark—meaning three dollars per cable household per month, according to sources familiar with the matter. Even though the American cable universe is shrinking, Murdoch and his son Lachlan Murdoch are still extracting billions of dollars.

These fees are the majority of revenue for Fox, more even than advertising, and they are significantly higher than those charged by the network’s competitors. Fox has been able to raise prices and charge disproportionately high rates due to its history of deceptive and aggressive negotiating tactics during contract renewal talks with providers...

>26 Molly3028: On actual malice being a very high bar it's kind of obvious that Fox's lawyers on the case almost certainly thought there was a very good chance that Fox was going to lose because $787.5 million is a lot of money to pay out. There was going to be a parade of Fox celebrities that were going to be asked to testify. Was that worth on its own that kind of a settlement?....keeping in mind that if Fox had lost the case there might have been a higher $ number (or not) but they would also have an appeal process that could long put off the day that Dominion collected anything. I think the conclusion is they were going to lose the case and they didn't want that parade of celebrities to be embarrassed in public......so they both threw in the towel and the appeal process to make it all go away.

It's also more than likely that Fox is able to defray some of that loss by writing it off on taxes......also that they're currently pushing cable companies for as much as $3 more for those subscribers with Fox (whether they watch Fox or not) in their cable packages. So they intend to make the public pay for all their bullshit lies. More lawsuits still to be settled though.
