how long do I get to review books?

Hi all,

I am a little new here.

I have won a couple of books in Early reviewers and in giveaways the past few weeks. Due to being so busy with my finals, I will be very slow in reading and reviewing them. Would that be okay?

Is there a certain deadline for submitting reviews before the lack of them starts to count against you?

Thanks!

It's all a bit vague. You definitely have more than a few weeks before it counts against you. I recommend just doing it as soon as you can and don't worry too much :)

For Early Reviewers, it's three months. (But at the moment, I can't remember when's the start of the countdown.)

Reviewing for Giveaways isn't tracked by a LibraryThing system, so there's no official deadline.

>1 dalia95: >3 aspirit: According to the the FAQ page, it's 90 days from when you win, unless you mark the book as I received.

What's the deadline for my review?
We don't have a hard-and-fast deadline for reviews, because it depends on how long it takes for the book to reach you. We hope that you'd put your Early Reviewer book to the top of your reading queue, because the publisher would like to get a review from you soon, to go with the release of the book. Even if the book is already out, getting reviews up on LibraryThing ASAP is our primary goal.

After 90 days from when you won the book, a failure to write a review may be counted against you.

If you haven't received the book yet, you should mark it unreceived so we don't count it against you.
If you have received the book, you should really get reviewing!

>5 tealadytoo:

That is only for ER books. There is no requirement that MG books be reviewed.

Also, while you're penalized for having an unreviewed book, it's not a deal-breaker, and once you do review the book, even if it's late, there's no remaining penalty - they only look whether you have a book that you haven't reviewed, not whether any of yours in the past were late.

Also, your review has to be longer than 25 words (I think that's the number) for ER credit -- but the content doesn't matter (positive or negative or ambivalent or meh). Good luck w/finals!
