In the last few days I can't get my Home page to load about 90% of the time. Also, my default view on Talk is "Groups and Posts" and when I try to move to "All topics", nothing happens: there's a little circle of loading (not the blue round of doom, though) but then it remains on the initial "Groups and Posts" page.

Same thing here! If I sign out and sign in again, things are back to normal - until the next time(day) I come back to LT. Normally I stay signed in between sessions.
I'm on Windows 10 and Chrome, latest versions.

Same. I get a little blue "loading" error and nothing else.

Are you still having this problem?
5Helenliz
I am. Talk seems to be stuck on my Starred topics and won't show any of the other list options.
For me it seems to be browser dependent, works in Edge, is stuck in Firefox.

Yes, problem still ongoing :(
I'm also on Windows 10 and Chrome, all updated to latest versions.
And this time I couldn't even post this, I had to sign out and then back in, for things to go back to normal, but I fear that next time I return it'll be the same...

I have not had my home page load for the last three days. I, too had to sign out and sign back in.

My issue is sort of reversed; I always click on 'Your Posts' to get back to the Talk page from a thread but in the past week or so I've suddenly sometimes found myself on my Home page instead. I updated my OS yesterday and it happened again just now.

>8 humouress: It's still happening to me i.e. sometimes when I click on 'Your Posts' from a thread I suddenly find myself on my Home page. It happens maybe once or twice a week.
13kristilabrie
Hmm okay, thanks! Reopening to investigate.

>12 humouress: Haven't been able to spot this yet, but if you see it happen can you post the thread you were on before clicking "Your Posts" and being brought to your Homepage?

Off the top of my head, it's happened a few times from my own thread in the 75 Challenge, I think.

Just now from my own thread in ROOTs https://www.librarything.com/topic/331968#n7516069
When I went back to copy the link and then clicked on 'Your Posts', it took me back to the Home page again (ie it happened twice in succession). Hmm, I've changed it now, but the link I first copied from the header bar of my thread was https://www.librarything.com/talk
I grabbed it from the address bar as per usual, so I'm guessing that maybe it's linked to the issue?

Okay, can you give me a numbered set of steps where this is happening for you, so I can try to reproduce it? I've been bouncing around myself and also not seeing anything on your account. I need to see if a specific set of steps is happening or not. Something like "1. go to this link 2. click on this link 3. click the browser's back button", etc. If you don't mind walking back the next time this happens for you, I appreciate the help!
ETA: I'm sorry I accidentally posted #16 above while testing in your account!

>17 kristilabrie: (Eek, you can do that?)
If I read a thread, I use the browser back button or swipe the trackpad/ screen back to the 'Your posts' list; that works perfectly well.
If I post on a thread, I usually click on the 'Your Posts' link in the left bar to get back to the list and refresh it. That's the one that sometimes goes squiffy. The times I've noted it above, it's happened on my iMac.

Okay, this is very good to know! I'm going to try testing this out periodically to see if I can reproduce it. Thanks.

Hmm. Well, I just posted a reply on this thread https://www.librarything.com/talk https://www.librarything.com/topic/328177#n7524702 and then answered a WhatsApp post before coming back to it and clicking on 'Your Posts' which took me to the LT Home page. When I went back to copy the link and clicked on 'Your Posts' again, it took me to the Home page again.

Well I finally reproduced your issue! I think I found a reliable way to reproduce this.
For developers:
1. Using Safari on www, log into LibraryThing and go to Talk (/talk).
2. Click specifically to any of the five side-menu options under "Your World" (e.g. Your Groups, Your Posts, Starred Topics, etc.)
3. Click to a thread within that page.
4. Click again to the page you clicked on at Step 2.
5. Click your browser's back button to go back to the thread at Step 3.
6. Click again to the page you clicked at Step 2.
Bug(?): You are redirected to /home instead of the page you clicked at Step 2.
NB: on our dev server, I get the following error after the above steps, instead of getting redirected to /home (keeping full LT URL out of the message here): "Warning blocked The page at librarything.com/undefined was not allowed to run insecure content from http://linkhelp.clients.google.com/tbproxy/lh/wm/fixurl.js. (x2)"
It seems that something about clicking the browser's back button on Safari in Talk and navigating between the same two pages gets you an undefined page?

Well, it just happened again after a long while of behaving properly. I opened my computer (not booted up - I had put it into sleep mode) where it was on my thread and clicked on 'your posts' but it took me to the homepage instead.
Going backwards, this was the address in the address bar: https://www.librarything.com/talk although my thread is: https://www.librarything.com/topic/331103#

This bug hasn't been fixed yet, but I'll ping developers about it again! Sorry for the trouble.

Closing since home page has been updated since this.

Just to note, it has happened in the past week or so but is random so I tend to ignore it.

This issue, while reproducible, is so minor, and we believe it has to do with the way the browser works, so it's not really something we even have control over.
