I am trying to get the correct touchstone for:
Father, by Elizabeth von Arnim
but Father brings up so many possibilities that I can't even scroll through them all--my "scroll" stops.
If there is a solution, or better way to search the touchstones, please let me know.

If you still want a list, use the left-bracket-title-comma-author-right-bracket syntax.
[Father, von Arnim] = Father, von Arnim
[Father, von Arnim] = Father, von Arnim

Lesmel! I never knew that! Thanks for the tip.
But this is a good example of why sorting by popularity (?) just because a word appears in the title is the opposite of helpful.

>2 lesmel: I knew there had to be a way--thank YOU!
>3 lilithcat: Yep. Seems like "FATHER" or "THE FATHER" or "A FATHER" would come at the top of the list, and then titles with additional words would come later.

>2 lesmel: However, doing it this way would then have the touchstone show up in a post as the title PLUS author, correct? (as you have in your post).
So therefore, there's no way to leave out the author from the touchstone, because once I remove the author and only have the title, we're back to the same problem, correct?

>5 kac522: Correct. Alternatively, you can use the work_id::title syntax. That does not require you use the "others" link at all
[1163165::Father] = Father
This syntax also does weird things like... [1163165::Happy Title Here] = Happy Title Here

Brink, Elizabeth | Father, Yonge | Herodotus, Elizabeth | Elizabeth, Moon
Brink, Elizabeth | Father, Yonge | Herodotus, Elizabeth | Elizabeth, Moon

Lucy is working on a better search index so that one word title matches are ranked better in site searches and touchstone results. I'm hopeful she can find a good solution.

Update to sitesearch should have resolved this problem.
