Audible is doing a members-only $5 sale with different audiobooks on sale for each of the next 5 days, including today. There are several SF&F choices, as well as other things.
I only found one on today’s list that was already on my reading list. I didn’t have it listed as a potential audiobook choice, but it’s the first book in a large series that I probably wouldn’t have gotten to anytime soon, so it makes a good candidate and I decided to grab it: Dragonflight by Anne McCaffrey.

I didn't realize that this month's Tor Freebie is the second in a series, so I just bought the first one, as it's on sale for $2.99. (It's more of a novella.)

>22 -pilgrim-: OOOH! One of my favorites! So that is NOT available from Amazon for Kindle at all in the US, for some odd reason, yet I can borrow it for my Kindle from the library. Oh, and The Chrysalids is on sale for 99¢.
24-pilgrim-
>23 clamairy: And The Chrysalids is not on sale here, but at £4.99.
I am extremely grateful to my English teacher, who taught The Chrysalids as a set text, and had The Day of the Triffids and Consider Her Ways in the English stockroom and encouraged us to go on to them. Wyndham is one of my favourite SF authors.

>23 clamairy: The Day of the Triffids used to be available on Kindle in the US, but I learned (too late, after purchasing and reading it) that it was a shortened and modified version for the US market. It was a significant change – the Americanized version has 11,000 fewer words than the original. There are more details about it, including how to tell which version you have, at this link: https://triffids.guidesite.co.uk/versions.php
My impression was that this wasn’t a new issue introduced with the Kindle edition, but a problem with at least some US print editions also. I didn’t look into it too deeply though, because by the time I learned there were two versions, the damage had already been done for me. I might like to read the proper version someday if I run across it, but not until more time has passed. (I read the e-book in 2019.)

Although I saw several things of interest to me, I limited my selections to books that were already on my to-read list and that more-or-less met the criteria I’ve been using this year to choose which books to do as audiobooks. So I only picked up three this time:
The Dragonbone Chair by Tad Williams
The Rook by Daniel O’Malley
