Found: 1970's mystery for young readers

I got this book from the Library. I read it in the late seventies (possibly early eighties), when I was a ten or so. All of this is "I think"-- main character named Jenny, story about finding an emerald in a doll. Doll may have been in an attic. Contemporary. There was a scene on a steep roof. Jenny lives with her grandmother. I LOVED THIS STORY then but can't remember enough now to find it. Can you help?
