I'm trying to remember the name of a short story I read in my English class in high school, probably at some point between 2016-2018. I'm not sure how commonly it is assigned, but I'm not sure I've heard of other people reading it. At my high school we used a Perrine's Literature book and also a Norton's Anthology, so I think it would probably have been in one of those anthologies. The storyline, as I remember it, was about an Indian tour guide who was current driving around a couple and their children and showing them various sights of India. The couple is ethnically Indian and have an Indian name, but they live in America and I think were mostly raised there. They have at least two boys, and I believe also a girl. At one point the woman tells the driver/tour guide that she cheated on her husband and that one of her sons is not her husbands, though her husband does not know. If I remember correctly, she has not taken a paternity test or anything, but she is certain that this son (I think the younger one) is not her husband's because she says his personality is too bold and brave, more like the man she cheated on her husband with, while her husband is boring and cautious. I also remember at one point the tour guide is thinking about the clothes the woman is wearing which is revealing by his standards and thinking about how he has never seen his wife naked because they have always been at least slightly clothed, even when conceiving his children. I think this tour guide might have had something of a crush on the woman. I think at one point there were monkey's involved in the story and they were a symbol for something. If I remember correctly, at the end of the story the woman gives the tour guide her number or information or something so he can contact her and he is very excited but I think he loses it at the end.

This sounds like the title story from Interpreter of Maladies.
