YA novel from the 1980s with a pizza eating contest

I'm trying to remember a YA novel from the 80s or early 90s that includes a chapter where three friends (two boys and a girl) are given permission to order one pizza, but they pool their money to buy a second pizza to have a pizza eating contest, after the two boys both brag that they could eat an entire pizza by themselves. I remember that in the end, both boys can only manage two thirds of a pizza each, leaving two thirds of a pizza left, which the girl then eats.

I have no idea what the main storyline of the novel is, only that the main characters are the three young adults, two boys and a girl. Anyone have any idea what YA novel this is from?

I don't know for sure, but from that era it's the sort of thing I'd expect to find in one of the Matthew Martin books by Paula Danziger.
