Children's book boy with red wagon and bb gun going on adventures around his house

Hello! I am looking for the title of a children's book written somewhere between late 80s to late 90s. It was about a boy who went on "adventures" around his how with his little wagon and bb gun. The artwork was kind of post modern and strange/creepy, like the artwork in the Stinky Cheese Man book. Anyone have any clue? I've searched forever and A Christmas Story keeps popping up but it's NOT that.
