Hi all, looks like its been awhile since anyone posted. Retired teacher, always interested in whats new in kids books. I just finished The Children's Train and Fireweed and still remember fondly reading The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane last year. Looking forward to reading Ordinary Princess that I just ordered based on several recs from LT folk. What is everyone else reading?

I was recently recommended the Starfell series by Dominique Valente but I haven't begun reading yet.
Four and five star children's books I've read recently:
Fiction
- Castle Hangnail by Ursula Vernon, fantasy
- Guardians of Magic (The Cloud Horse Chronicles) by Chris Riddell (also his Goth Girl series, and his Ottoline series for younger readers), fantasy
- The Castle of Inside Out by David Henry Wilson (buy the edition with illustrations by Chris Riddell!), fantasy / allegory
- Momo by Michael Ende (and about to read his The Neverending Story), fantasy / allegory
- Fireweed by Jill Paton Walsh (more for young teens than children imo), history
Non-Fiction
- Arctic Hero : the incredible life of Matthew Henson by Catherine Johnson (reliable writer of children's and teen fiction and non-fiction), biography

I'm currently enjoying The Chalet School returns to the Alps, a recent addition to the classic series of girls' school stories.

I've just finished Enchanted Glass by Diana Wynne Jones. And I also re-read Conrad's Fate by her a few months back. I love DWJ books, although they do straddle the YA line a bit.
I read A Stitch in Time by Penelope Lively near the end of last year and really enjoyed it.
