Why didn’t someone remind me? I had to learn it randomly from an Instagram post, and I could have been short handed!
As it is, grandbaby gets a piece of chocolate for every successful trip to the potty. The parents do an M&M; but I’ve been introducing her to the finer versions - dark, darker, caramel, orange peel, darkest, cherry... on and on. Today we’ve been eating malted milk balls.
How are you celebrating? And what are your favorites?

Used to get roasted coffee beans covered in dark chocolate, but last time they have me a migraine headache.

I did not know this! It's a good think I chose to have chocolate sauce on my ice cream at lunch today.

>1 2wonderY: I had some dark chocolate with orange flavor from Greece.

>5 AlexanderPatico: Yum! I finished my bar just like that yesterday. Today it’s caramel m&ms.

Dang! I missed another important holiday. Monday was National Book Lovers Day. How did you celebrate? I went for my pre-op visit for cataract surgery. I also read a little bit of The Last Days in print and Mostly Harmless on audio.
I’m almost done transferring my books from one house to another. I have only two large cases and two small cases left to sort and find space for. Oh, and this shelf of history books too:

>8 2wonderY: What a pretty photo! I like that shelf with the flowers and the pictures in addition to all those books. It looks very cozy.

Why doesn’t someone keep track of these things? Tuesday was National Caramel Day. Going to go put a shot of caramel syrup in my mug of tea.

Today is National Ice Cream Day in the US. How are you celebrating?
I’m modestly having my third Neapolitan ice cream sandwich.

I knew there must be a good reason I bought two 1L cartons of ice cream today. (besides the heat)

Enjoy yr chocolates and icecream! My downfall would have been National Onion Rings Day, which, had I known, was June 22.

National Hammock Day (US).
Do you have a hammock?
I do, but I much prefer the porch swing. The grands like the hammock.

I introduced my older granddaughter to Godiva when she was about three. (She's now 30, and her mother is ALMOST ready to forgive me...)

>17 LyndaInOregon: I got in so much trouble when I gave my oldest granddaughter whipped cream at 6 months. First child, and her mama had strict ideas about introducing foods. 😋. It was never an issue after that.

What about the books? Chocolat (Joann Harris), Like Water for Chocolate (Laura Esquivel), Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (Roald Dahl)...

Arg!! I missed World Pasta Day which was yesterday. I plan to eat Halloween candy all day to compensate.

>21 John5918: well, go ahead and brag! Do you have pictures? Descriptions would be okay too.

We had fast food pasta at Milan Central Station today. Not the best pasta I've ever eaten, but certainly not the worst fast food! But I watched a recent TV documentary which said that pasta is not the food of the north, where they prefer polenta, rice and butter. On a train to Rome at the moment where we hope to eat more pasta.

>23 John5918: Polenta, yum!

And in Rome we discovered pasta amatriciana, a sauce based on small pieces of delicious bacon/ham.

My Italian grandmother made polenta on her wood burning stove and my mother made it on her gas buring stove. Memories.

I just discovered today ( in the US only, sorry guys!) is National Cupcake Day. The college farm store is offering some delightful looking selections.

Oops! I missed National Chocolate Cake Day. It was yesterday. Oddly, I did have hands on a devils food cake mix and thought about baking it. But I don’t have anyone nearby to share the sin.
