This month we are going totally random!

The list at this link gives the 1001 books (actually 1316, as it includes all the books ever on the list) with numbers.

Using this random number generator, you can choose a book from the list. If it is one you have already read, have another go!

My number is 244, Strait Is The Gate.
Having a random pick worked for me as I have never heard of this book!

Fun! I got 870, The Invention of Curried Sausage by Uwe Timm (#1107 on my spreadsheet).

>3 BentleyMay: I really enjoyed that one! Good choice :)

>2 JayneCM: Hunh, I guess I enjoyed your choice as well. Gave it 4-stars!

It took a bit to find one that I owned and hadn't read but I finally came up with Crying of Lot 49. I guess I need to tackle it at some point so why not now.

>5 Yells: I thought a few of you would have trouble coming up with an unread choice! Getting closer to the finish line!
There must also be some books that you will never be able to find?

I have around 100 unread list books available to me so statistically this should have taken on average around 13 spins. As it was it took around 30! Eventually I got number 1315 The Moors Last Sigh by Salman Rushdie. Great group challenge - hopefully the book will match the fun I had picking it.

>7 puckers: Glad you found one in the end! I must admit to finding random number generators strangely fun!

The first one I got that I hadn't read and could get access to from the library was #485, Go Tell It on the Mountain. I will definitely tackle that one.

>9 ursula: There are certainly some books on the list that have me wondering how I will access them. My library certainly doesn't have all of them. I guess I will worry about that problem when I am further along!

>10 JayneCM: I've got the added complication that I'm living abroad so I am limited to what is available in the library's digital collection. In the US, being able to also have use of physical books and interlibrary loan would have opened up more possibilities! (But there are still some seriously hard to come by books on the list...)

I got Invisible Cities by Italo Calvino. Not sure I will have time to read it in August, but looks interesting.

I came up with #569 which turned out to be The Bell Jar so that is what I will be reading in August.

>13 DeltaQueen50: I think you will enjoy that one a lot. It is one of my best reads this year.

>14 Henrik_Madsen: That sounds very promising.
