Found: Historical Fiction - set in the Ton/ Divorce Scandal

It's a historical fiction book set in the Ton, a lady causes scandal by getting a divorce for adultery. Later she and the lord she cheated with fall in love, only they never actually cheacted as she slipped him laudnam and put him in her bed. Please help me find this book, it's been driving me mad.

The historical fiction I'm looking for is based on a woman in an abusive marriage, to escape this she sets up an affair and gets caught leading to a public scandal. Afterward she falls in love with the man she 'cheated' with. Hope this helps clarify the book some more.
