Edgar Allan Poe: Complete Tales and Poems

There are two works with the title: Edgar Allan Poe: Complete Tales and Poems

https://www.librarything.com/work/51588
https://www.librarything.com/work/3053532

I see the disambiguation notice on the first one says:
"Do not combine "The Complete Tales and Poems" with "Complete Works" in any form (he wrote other things as well), nor with "Complete tales" in any form (since that won't include the poems)." There is no disambiguation notice on the second work.

But I fail to see why these two works are different. Both are titled Complete Tales and Poems in the editions page as well as the work page.

If there is a difference, it would be nice to have it specified somehow. How is one to know which work one really owns?

Just curious if anyone has more information than I do.

It looks to me as though the two could be combined by someone who can combine a 1 000 copy work with a 10 000 copy work. Neither sticks to a specific edition.

I agree I think they should be combined

I vaguely remember that someone had combined the Complete Works with the Complete Tales and Poems a few years ago (where a few may mean a decade at this point) but I don't think this separation stayed since the cleanup of that mess.

What I am seeing is a disambig note from 10 days ago not to do exactly that (https://www.librarything.com/commonknowledge/changelog.php?item=3053532&type=1&field=13) so I wonder if someone did some cleanup by mistake, pulled these out and then did not know how to reconnect them. Or was splitting Tales&Poems from Stories&Poems and never finished. Or who knows.

Too bad that the history of the Separations is broken in the Helpers log (and even if it was not, it was just 7 days anyway). Maybe someone can send a note to the member who added the disambig note 10 days ago and see if they know something about this.

>4 AnnieMod: I understand why "complete works" and "complete stories" should not get combined with "complete stories and poems". I don't understand the reasoning behind having two (both mixed) sets of "complete stories and poems" though.

But, yes, asking that person might help.

>5 Nicole_VanK: I did not say we need two separate ones.

I said "... pulled these out and then did not know how to reconnect them. Or was splitting Tales&Poems from Stories&Poems and never finished".

Both imply possible unfinished work on this one. Thus ask the editor who last did something around these.

Looks as if I've already agreed these two work pages should be combined.

So should someone (me?) post on the "too much love" combiners thread?
