Hey all!
I was IN LOVE with this young adult lit novel many moons ago and cannot remember the title.
The pieces I remember: the setting was a boarding school and there was a chest/trunk in a hallway with a large crack in it. As it would happen, the trunk was a multi-dimensional portal of sorts, so when you got into it and closed the trunk, it would open in a different “world.” The headmaster would travel through it regularly. He was a bad guy from another realm. A female student at the boarding school is THE piece to the puzzle. At one point when one of the protagonists goes through the chest, the female student is a horse. If I remember correctly, the female student can turn into other animas?
Title might have the word “cat” in it.

Under the Cat's Eye ? I read this book decades ago so I remember VERY few details.
