For some reason that particular book that you refer to has 0 members listed, did you rename the work when you were editing? Perhaps if you give it a day or two the database will find it.

It is because one of the works (/26023312) has no editions.
You can see this on the page: /work/26023312/editions
English: Copies and editions of this title: None
French: Exemplaires et éditions de ce titre: Aucun
Whenever this happens, the work cannot be combined through the Workbench or on the Author page. It requires an expert combiner to fix it.
If you post a request in Combiners! group, in the "Combining/Separating (Please Fix This Book!) Request Thread"
Current thread (December 2021): /topic/333401
Ask in there for an expert to combine /work/26023312 and /work/27497782 – tell them you cannot combine because one of the work has no editions, and someone will be able to help. I will mark this as closed, as not a bug.
Edited: for typo & format.

Re-opened.
>3 Nevov: Slow down there a bit, do you know why it has no editions? It is showing up in the OP's catalogue, it wasn't just an idle question about combining from someone that stumbled across an odd edition, they are curious why it shows up in their catalogue and nowhere else. It would be good to figure out that problem before just dismissing it as a combination issue.

I wonder of this is the old caching issue striking again. I would leave things as they are overnight and see if they look differently in the morning (or in a couple of days even)...

Well, Tx and so "Wait and see" after some time.
Fo information : i entered isbn from BNF library (official). There was a pb with error of combinaison with 2 books of Darnton (Author). So i separated these... and it's after, the problem came.
So i delete my book and re-enter... No more result.
I have the book but not in work ????
I dont' understand... but more or less sure it's a system pb. So waiting for the sun now ;-)

>6 JMK2020: In such cases, you may want to wait with the delete and re-enter - let it stand for a bit so the caches can sort themselves or post in the Combiners group - so we can see if someone can figure out how to fix it. When you delete and reenter again, especially while a combination is still working through the caches and the site had not settled yet, things get even more confused. There are now 2 books in the picture - the one that was initially in your catalog (and is now deleted) and the new one -- LT never deletes records - they just become zero-copies ones and get hidden in some cases thus causing issues because things misconnect. :)
It can be annoying but it happens with books with a very low number of copies when they get involved in combinations and something goes weird.
I never delete and re-enter - it usually makes a confused situation worse :)

>4 bernsad: Sorry if I jumped the gun on closure without doing a much better job of explaining the reasoning more fully.
I didn't mention (as thought it was politer not to) but I checked the Separation log: https://www.librarything.com/log_helpers.php?view=workseparation
and could see that that JMK2020 had been doing separation work on /26023312.
work/26023312 is an older number than /27497782 so I put two and two together and concluded that JMK2020 must have manually separated every edition off from /26023312 leaving the present situation.

>8 Nevov: Which should not leave their catalog linked to it in any way (except for the caching issues) - which is what I found when I looked at it - a book was still pointing to that work - causing a lot of this issue. If it had cleared cleanly already, they could be combined via the workbench. Forcing the combination would probably work but it who knows what else won't finish recalculating. So I let it stand before forcing it in these cases - giving a chance to the site to finish its recalculations where needed. :)

What does this have to do with paperbacks?
11AnnieMod
>10 MarthaJeanne: I think that pb is short for Problem and not paperback here :)

>10 MarthaJeanne: It's a sign you are a book lover when you see Pb and think paperback rather than lead (plumbum). :-)
JMK2020 you do love to write some unique language in your posts. Tx says Texas to me rather than thanks. :-)
>9 AnnieMod: Is there a standard time to recommend for any caching to catch up? (a day?) or is it not so simple as that?

>12 Nevov: I try to give it a couple of days just in case (or at least an overnight). I think it usually clears in minutes and hours when it gets stuck (unless there is a delay somewhere due to a server issue or something) but more time won't hurt anyone usually so I try to be patient (not always successful) :)

Sorry :

Pb for Problem
....
For Book : Bk
And so on.
Some abbreviations which date from the university and after the business before having use of the diction (So, I did not write any more) ;-)
I would be more careful especially as depending on the languages, the acronyms or abbreviations change
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Nb (Nota bene) : "xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx" is not abbreviation but separation ;-)

I see that this work: https://www.librarything.com/work/26023312/editions/210166301 now has an edition, so it's safe to combine with https://www.librarything.com/work/27497782, now, I take it? I can do this if that's what's needed, or someone else can.
