The singer and actor known as Meat Loaf née Marvin Lee Aday has died on January 20 at the age of 74. He wrote To Hell and Back: An Autobiography. Somebody stole my copy of Bat out of hell during a dorm party in 1978 and I’m still upset about it. RIP you gentle big man. 😢

Folk musician Norma Waterson has died on 30 January aged 82 after a long recording and performing career with many other musicians including her sister Lal Waterson and her brother Mike Waterson, her husband Martin Carthy and her daughter Eliza Carthy. Her sister and brother both predeceased her, and she is survived by her husband, daughter, and I think a nephew (Lal Waterson's son) who is part of the musical dynasty. Not the author of books, but someone who worked in a tradition where music, literature and other creative arts are closely connected and some of her work is catalogued under various artists on LT.

Renowned and multitalented printer and graphic designer Robert R. Reid died on January 21 at his home in Vancouver at the age of 94, due to complications arising from Covid. A work he authored as well as designed: The front page story of World War II : as told through the front pages of Vancouver's daily newspapers from 1939 to 1945.

Archaeologist Caroline Wickham-Jones died January 13 at the age of 66. Her books include Orkney: A Historical Guide, Between the Wind and the Water, and Scotland’s First Settlers.
