I am looking for a book that I read in the mid 1990s. It was about a young woman and a lot of her thoughts were about her mother and their relationship, maybe about forgiving and accepting. I don't remember the title or the cover but something makes me think about a tree. Maybe also tamarinds/Tamara, maybe something flowerish? A warm climate? I remember it as being somewhat of a bestseller. I read it in Swedish but that was a translated edition.

Seems lika a very good guess. Thank you! However I can't see that it has been translated into Swedish and that makes me think it is not the novel I'm thinking of (will try to find it though and have a closer look). And more suggestions?

Could it be White Oleander?

Thank you very much for thinking about this! It sounds like a book worth reading. However I do not recognize the story and it seems a little bit to "modern" and focused on what is actually happening to and around these women in society. I remember the novel I read as rather calm and quiet.

Could it be Torey Hayden's The Sunflower Forest?
7humouress
Virginia Andrews's Flowers in the Attic (and following series)?

Thank you so much, however I don't recognize this story either. But I am very happy and grateful for every suggested title!

This one I remember reading, but it is not the one I am thinking about. Thanks a lot anyway!
